Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Pet Breed Hub ("we", "our", "us") processes when you use petbreedhub.com, why, and what rights you have. We collect as little as we can: you can read every breed page, take the quiz and use the compare tool without giving us any personal information.
1. Who We Are
Pet Breed Hub (petbreedhub.com) is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy question or request, email contact@petbreedhub.com.
2. What We Collect and Why
Analytics (only if you accept)
If, and only if, you click "Accept All" in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used. It collects the pages you view, how you arrived, your device and browser type, approximate location (city level) and the interactions we measure, such as searches, clicks on breed and shelter links, and quiz progress. For the breed quiz we record which step you reached and your top breed match, never your answers. If you decline, or make no choice, nothing is sent to Google and no analytics cookies are set.
Breed quiz
Your quiz answers are processed in your browser to calculate your matches. Your results are kept in your browser's session storage so you can return to them from a breed page; they are deleted when you close the tab and are never sent to us.
Pet Mascot tool
When you use the Pet Mascot tool, the photo you upload and the tone you pick are sent to OpenAI, our AI provider, to create the cartoon and caption. We do not store your photo. OpenAI may keep API inputs for up to 30 days to detect abuse, after which they are deleted, and does not use them to train its models. Please upload photos of your pet only, not of people. To prevent abuse, the tool uses Cloudflare Turnstile (a bot check) and counts requests per IP address; that count is deleted automatically after 26 hours.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and delete the conversation when it is no longer needed.
Hosting and security logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and basic request data to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you.
3. Cookies and Your Consent
The first time you visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. "Accept All" and "Decline" are equally easy, and declining does not limit any part of the site. Your choice is remembered for 12 months, after which we ask again. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page; declining stops analytics immediately and deletes its cookies.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
4. Third-Party Content
When you follow a link to a shelter or another website, that site's own privacy policy applies.
5. Who Receives Your Data
- Google LLC: analytics, only after you accept
- OpenAI: mascot photos and tone, only when you use the Pet Mascot tool
- Cloudflare, Inc.: hosting, security and the Turnstile bot check
- Authorities: when the law requires it
6. International Transfers
Google, OpenAI and Cloudflare are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. These transfers are protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK extension) and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How Long We Keep Data
- Analytics data: deleted automatically by Google Analytics after our configured retention period, at most 14 months
- Cookie choice: 12 months, then we ask again
- Quiz results: until you close the browser tab
- Mascot photos: not stored by us; up to 30 days at OpenAI for abuse monitoring
- Mascot request counts: 26 hours
- Emails: until your question is resolved and no longer needed
8. Your Rights
Under the GDPR (and the UK GDPR) you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you
- have inaccurate data corrected
- have your data deleted
- restrict or object to our processing
- receive your data in a portable format
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that happened before you withdrew
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@petbreedhub.com. We reply within one month. Because we hold so little data, we may not be able to identify analytics data as yours; withdrawing consent and deleting your cookies removes the link between you and it.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live or work or where you believe the infringement happened.
9. Children
Pet Breed Hub is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
10. Changes to This Policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top of this page, and we will highlight significant changes here.
